“How to make smart use of available and relevant data for informed programming and decision making?”
The increased availability of data provides new opportunities to support sustainable development. Through combining and analyzing different data sources, new insights and knowledge could potentially be gained. Join our next Open Tea on ‘data-informed decision-making’ to learn more!
On September 25th, Data4Development and Partos / The Spindle host this year’s third Open Tea. Let us focus on learning from each others’ challenges and providing fresh insight or new points of view rather than merely sharing our success stories.
During the afternoon, four cases will be presented:
- Simavi (Pieter de Jong) will discuss their use of data gathering applications, which are also used for management steering.
- Aidsfonds (Eva Roos) is working on combining and analyzing different data sources on Zoom, an open data-platform. Their challenge lies in working to make it possible to visualise data for specific locations such as a city or even zooming in on a neighborhood.
- Data4Development (Maaike Blom/ Jeaphianne van Rijn) will share their learning journey of a data mining pilot with IATI data. Here we searched a data pool of 14.397 activities for organisations in Uganda active in education, trying to put together an identifiable network of related organisations from a pool of over 14 thousand activities
- HiiL (Rodrigo Nunez) is active in large scale data gathering for the purpose of learning about people’s access to justice systems.
DATE: TUESDAY September 25th, 2018
TIME: 15.30 – 18.30 (with Drinks)
LOCATION: Simavi, Naritaweg 135, 1043 BS Amsterdam
Data4Development at the Partos Innovation Festival
For the third year in a row D4D has been invited to contribute to the annual Partos Innovation Festival. This year’s event will take place on October 11th, so Save the Date! We will be present on the information market with demos of our products and join and lead a panel on Data & Digitization, discussing good practice in social and technological innovation. Come by and meet us there!
Open Tea: A community of data professionals
Data4Development & Partos/ The Spindle would like to create a community of data professionals to support data-informed decision making. They help organisations in the development sector to increase the use of data, which supports the effectiveness of aid. The Open Tea is an informal network meeting about information & data giving data professionals the opportunity to meet and get to know each other.
Interested in this event and other future activities? Join D4D’s Meetup group of Data Professionals in the Development Sector to be the first one informed about new learning events. If you like to host an Open Tea at your organisation, or if you like to present your case and discuss your questions with a group of peer data professionals, let us know, via the group or by contacting Maaike Blom at firstname.lastname@example.org.
